From Families Who Have Been Through the Programme
Nurul Hidayah Rashid
George Town, Penang · April 2025
"My daughter came home from the Saturday workshop and told me about a character in a story who couldn't decide whether to spend or keep her coins. She talked about it for three days. I hadn't expected a single session to land that way, but it clearly did."
Chan Tze Ling
Air Itam, Penang · March 2025
"We enrolled both children in the term-long programme. What surprised me was how different each week felt — not repetitive at all. The weekly summaries were genuinely useful. I appreciated that there was no attempt to turn the sessions into something aspirational. It was just... honest and age-appropriate."
Surinder Kaur
Bayan Lepas, Penang · February 2025
"My son is seven and tends to lose focus quickly. I was slightly nervous about whether he'd manage a full Saturday session. He was completely absorbed. The storytelling approach made all the difference — he wasn't being taught, he was listening to a story and then talking about it."
Lim Huey Shan
Georgetown, Penang · April 2025
"We are in the second term of the annual curriculum now. The parent gatherings have been unexpectedly valuable — it is good to hear how other families are navigating the same conversations at home. One thing I would mention: the studio space is small, which I actually like, but parking nearby is a bit of a puzzle."
Ahmad Hafiz Musa
Penang Hill area · March 2025
"My daughter is in Primary 2. I wasn't sure if she was old enough to benefit, but the facilitator reassured us and she did very well. The workbook she brought home is lovely — she goes back to it on her own and draws in it. That says something."
Tan Wei Lin
Tanjung Tokong, Penang · January 2025
"We did the workshop first and then moved into the term-long programme. The Saturday session was a good way to see whether my son was ready. He absolutely was. The transition between the two programmes was smooth and the facilitators remembered things he had said in the workshop, which he noticed and appreciated."

Starting Small, Then Staying
Where They Started
A George Town family with two children (ages 6 and 9) had been looking for a gentle way to introduce money vocabulary at home but wasn't sure whether a full programme was right for them. They booked the single-day workshop as a trial.
What Changed
Both children attended the Saturday session. The parent noted that the younger child — who usually found it hard to sit and listen — was fully engaged throughout. After the session, both children talked about the story unprompted at dinner that evening.
Where They Are Now
The family enrolled in the term-long programme the following term. The parent now uses the weekly conversation prompts as a regular part of weekend conversation. "It gave us a framework we didn't have before," she told us.

A Year of Small Conversations
The Starting Point
A family with a nine-year-old enrolled in the full annual curriculum after hearing about Northstar Atelier through a friend. The father felt that money was a subject they mostly avoided at home — not intentionally, but because they weren't sure how to begin.
Through the Year
By the second term, the parent noticed their child asking questions about prices at the wet market and wondering aloud where coins came from. The monthly parent gatherings helped the father feel more confident starting those conversations at home.
Looking Back
At the year-end reflection session, the family described the annual reader as something their child treated as a proper book — keeping it on a shelf and returning to it. "It made the whole year feel like it led somewhere," the father said.
